Betsy Steiner Dressage Clinic
We are pleased to announce that the renowned Betsy Steiner will be returning to Minnesota for a clinic October 22nd-24th, 2010 at Firefly Farm in Maple Plain, MN! After rave reviews and an overwhelming turnout for the 2009 clinic we are very excited to have Betsy coming back for another clinic!
During
Betsy’s career, she has successfully trained many horses to Grand Prix
including Attache, Special Delivery, Ortac, Komtur, Unanimous,
Metternich and Hilltop’s Giotto. With grand prix wins at prestigious
shows around the country, Betsy has enjoyed success at the highest
levels for more than three decades. A USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold
medalist, Betsy has numerous FEI wins. One
of the highlights of Betsy's illustrious career was when she
represented the United States at the World Equestrian Games in
Stockholm, Sweden in 1990 aboard her own Dutch Warmblood, Unanimous.
Betsy has authored numerous educational articles for top equestrian
periodicals including Practical Horseman and Dressage Today. She has also published the book A
GYMNASTIC TRAINING SYSTEM USING THE MIND, BODY, SPIRIT APPROACH. Betsy is known for her ability to bring out the best in riders and horses in a way that facilitates harmony and improved communication between the horse and rider. Betsy’s clinics often include dedicated
dressage riders with an interest in refining their aids and positions.
She really enjoys working with competitive riders hoping to improve
their skill and their connection with their horses.
Betsy's
endless desire to improve her own riding as well as her student's
through cross-training has led her to the development of EQUILATES™. Equilates,
a unique program for the Equestrian, uses the basic premises of
Pilates: promoting elongation of the spine, muscular flexibility and
balance, as well as emphasis on strengthening the core to ensure the
relaxed concentration and flow needed to promote the partnership
between horse and rider. With Equilates™ training, the rider finds it
easier to understand and put into practice the classical principles of
riding. In addition, Equilates pays close attention to the mind/body
connection incorporating not only Yoga principles, but also the
elements of T’ai Chi and the practice of visualization.

Because
the rider is the leading partner in this dance with her horse, Betsy’s
training system addresses the rider’s development first. Horses are
reflections of their riders and only when a rider has control over her
own position can she begin to reach her potential with her horse. The
Equilates exercises are designed with this in mind. In order to
positively influence her horse’s body a rider must train to be strong
and supple and learn to be aware of her own body.
It is Betsy's firm belief that with training, all things are possible!
