Dr. Kyla Awes
Certified Animal Chiropractor
Dr. Kyla grew up with animals and spent most of her youth working at her mother's horse farm in Loretto, MN. She has been riding horses since before she could walk and she has always been passionate about animals. Dr. Kyla is an experienced rider and trainer and has ridden through the Grand Prix level in dressage and Preliminary level in eventing. In her youth she was a member of North Star Pony Club and she is a "B" graduate.
Dr. Kyla initially became interested in chiropractic while riding horses. One of the horse trainers that she worked with had an equine chiropractor adjust the show jumping horses at the farm. These horses were extreme athletes and were required to jump fences of heights of more than five feet. They needed to be in top physical form. Dr. Kyla was amazed at how well the horses responded to the chiropractic care. They felt more agile on their feet, had more energy, jumped better, and were more willing to work.
After experiencing the profound effects of chiropractic care in both the horses and herself, Kyla decided to become a chiropractor. Dr. Kyla attended Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree as well as Doctorate of Chiropractic degree with honors.
Dr. Kyla's passion for animals inspired her to pursue further education in Animal Chiropractic. She completed the 210-hour postgraduate course at Options for Animals School of Animal Chiropractic in Wellsville, Kansas. She is certified by the IVCA (International Veterinary Chiropractic Association) and registered with the Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners to practice as an Animal Chiropractor. She practices throughout central and southern Minnesota and also enjoys being able to share her knowledge with other Chiropractors and Veterinarians by teaching at Options for Animals School of Animal Chiropractic.
Dr. Kyla currently resides in Plymouth, MN with her husband, two dogs, and two cats. She also continues to ride and compete her horses in dressage shows throughout the Midwest.
